Dress Yourself in Handmade - Turquoise and Gray

Turquoise was last years hot color, but it doesn't seem to have been replaced with Honeysuckle pink.  I'm still seeing it splashed through the pages of French Vogue, Bazaar and in all sorts of fall fashion reports.  Easier to wear than pink, it adds a so much color to wardrobe basics.

Dress Yourself in Handmade - Cool Mom

It's the most wonderful time of the year - first day of school!  I try to pull myself together, even if I'm just taking Kelly to school.  With some great basics in my closet it's easy to avoid the dreaded "pajama drop-off".

Dress Yourself in Handmade - Casual Date Night

Not that I've had a date night, in oh, say months, but if I were to plan one, I'd try to keep it casual, with great jeans and some crazy high heels to fancy it up a little.

Summer Wedding Guest

Day weddings can be challenging as a guest, short dress, long dress, semi-casual, formal? It's a little easier in the summer when a short dress or even a maxi dress are appropriate, especially in fresh summer colors.

If you're in need of a unique gift, check out these custom silhouettes by Jenny Lee Fowler - for a memorable present, use a couple's engagement photo to have the silhouette done.

Dress Yourself in Vintage - Back to School

It's August and for most parents we're getting closer to the most wonderful time of the year, when we dream about sending our precious children back to school.  The smell of pencils and thick stacks of ruler lined paper - it's a heady aroma, making us anticipate a return to routine and eliciting memories of our own schooldays.

Today's Dress Yourself in Vintage features one of my favorite shops, Thrush and one of my newer discoveries, Adrian Company Vintage and colors rich with autumn.

1970s Deep Plum Day Dress from Thrush

1950s Copper Cat Eye Glasses from Thrush

1970s Auburn Brown Large Leather Court Bag from Adrian Company Vintage

1970s Brandy Knee High Boots from Thrush

Perfect for running around campus, meet the teacher day at school, or dropping the kids off in style.  A wide, brown leather belt would tie it all together and give the dress a nice, structured waist.
